This was a must win game for us against Larne in the national league and with Seanna and Stevo away with the elite U-14 squad it meant a chance for the others to stake a claim for a starting place. We were awful im afraid to say and the fact it was our 3rd big game in 5 days was a major factor along with the poor state of the pitch. However no excuses though , as Larne came to win the game with their own incentives to perform and we were lucky, ever so lucky to get the points.mainly thanks to Ruairi in nets.
After Larne took the lead, big Joe pulled a goal back for us, and it was a super goal to make it all level at half-time.
The 2nd half was poor to begin with a slight flutter in the middle and thanks to Marks goal we eventually managed to hold on to get the points, however this won't have been the case but for Ruairi who pulled off 2 top drawer saves and including saving a penalty kick to keep us in the title hunt but only just.
Mark never stopped working and he was magnificent throughout.
So to a wee break for the next 5 days and then hopefully we will be back to a full strength squad for Saturdays tough encounter with Derry side Oxford Utd , here we must do better and I've no doubt we will.
Well done lto Larne a good team on any given day.
MOTM Mark.
